Volunteer to discuss Peace Corps experience at APL

Since June of 2017, Selena Wallace has lived in the municipality of Tinambac in the Philippines, where she works on community-based development projects.

Current Peace Corps volunteer Selena Wallace will present a program called “My Life in the Peace Corps” on Tuesday, November 20 at 3 p.m. at Auburn Public Library. The program is free and designed for all ages. Since departing in June of 2017, Wallace has been living in Tinambac, a municipality in Camarines Sur province in the Philippines, where she has been working with local partner organizations to advance sustainable, community-based development projects that improve the lives of local people.

As one of the 52 Maine residents currently serving in the Peace Corps, Williams is returning home briefly to share her experiences so far, including information about the Peace Corps, how she got involved, what it’s like to live and work in another culture, and the work she’s done as a member of the Coastal Resource Management sector. More than 1,905 Maine residents have served in the Peace Corps since 1961. For more information about the program, call the library’s Reference Desk at 333-6640, ext. 4. or see www.auburnpubliclibrary.org.
