GORHAM, ME (July 21, 2023) — Presumpscot Regional Land Trust is announcing three new conservation projects near downtown Gorham and Westbrook. CONSERVE: Gorham and Westbrook are two of the fastest-growing communities in the state, yet less than 5% of the land in these communities is conserved, while triple that has been conserved in Cumberland County.

WILDLIFE: Over one mile of Presumpscot River and Little River shorefront and 30 acres of wetlands will be protected. While these projects are close to population centers, they still provide important habitats for a diversity of species, from deer and hawks to quickly declining species of reptiles, amphibians, pollinators, and migrating birds.

ACCESS: Four new miles of trails will be accessible to thousands of people within a mile of these projects because they are located near downtown Gorham and Westbrook.

HELP MAKE THESE PROJECTS A REALITY: It costs nearly $2 million to conserve all three projects, and we have already secured 95% of the funds needed. Our Land Trust now has $110,000 left to raise from individuals for land conservation, trail building, community engagement, and long-term stewardship.

TIMELINE: Your support is needed this summer, so our Land Trust can conserve these projects this fall, build trails next spring, and have project grand openings next summer.
