Shakespeare’s Macbeth: A Short Drama
Gorham High School presents William Shakespeare’s Tragedy of Macbeth, adapted as a short play for the Maine Drama Festival by J. Tierney-Fife. Playing for one weekend only at GHS, February 28 through March 1.
In the midst of supernatural prophesies and human warfare, the Scottish noble Macbeth struggles with ambition and a lust for power that overthrows the lives of everyone around him. The play stands today as an examination of the rise of a dictator—a dark piece of the human story that seems to repeat itself across centuries and continents.
Performances take place at Gorham High School, hosted by GHS Theater, on Friday, February 28 at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, February 29 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 1 at 2 p.m. Tickets at the door are $5 for K through 12 Students and $10 for Adults.
