Medieval Arts & Sciences Event Comes to Gorham
GORHAM, ME (April 4, 2023) – The local chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) will be holding a full day of workshops focused on the arts and sciences of the Middle Ages.
The event, titled “Spring’s Inspirations,” will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday April 15, at the First Parish Congregational Church, 1 Church St., Gorham.
SCA members will be leading lessons on a variety of subjects from the time period, including:
Drop Spinning
Heraldry
Knitting 101
Pomander Making
Games of the Middle Ages
Renaissance Dancing
Historical Swordplay
Flint-and-Steel Fire Starting
Brick-Stich Embroidery, and more!
The event is open to the public, but an attempt at wearing clothing that roughly passes for the Middle Ages is required; a limited amount of loaner costumes will be available. Cost is $20/adult, $10/ages 6-17; 5 and under free. Lunch is included.
