Finishing Touches on Gorham’s Skatepark and Basketball Courts
Update from Gorham Recreation Department
GORHAM, ME (September 1, 2022) — Gorham Recreation Department wanted to give you an update on the skatepark and basketball courts down on Chick Drive as of September 1, 2022!
Our talented team from Artisan Skateparks is busy putting the finishing touches on the park now. We are looking for the loamed area around the park to be hydroseeded late next week. A grand opening is being planned for early October!
What we need from all of you? Please keep off the loose loam areas all around the park until we have time to get it seeded and the grass to take hold. This will take up to 21 days minimum….so realistically think last week of September into October. We know that is a LONG time from now, but we really need you to help us help you….stay off the loose loam areas around the skatepark until we can get it up to standard.
And how about those new basketball backboards down on the pavement next to the skatepark? Right???
Please keep all bicycles, scooters, boards and blades off the pavement. The surface needs to be protected until it gets painted and sealed. Thank You!
Please, Please, Please….do not “shoot” or throw baketballs at those backboards until we can get the perimeter fence installed. Our sealcoating and striping cannot happen prior to end of September and then we need to have a stretch of warm nights, not get below 40 degrees, in order to consider putting the paint down. Stay tuned for the weather reports on that!
Ultimately, the “multisport” courts there will have basketball, pickleball and shuffle board lines when we get finished!
