Casco FCU raises $7,000 for Gorham food pantries
Combatting hunger at the local level is a cause near and dear to the hearts of Casco Federal Credit Union’s staff. Food insecurity is an ongoing issue for many Maine families. One in seven Mainers struggles with hunger and Maine is ranked 12th in the nation for food insecurity. That’s why each year Team Casco takes an active part in Maine’s Credit Unions’ Campaign to End Hunger.
In 2019, Casco FCU raised $7,000 for Ending Hunger. Those funds will be donated directly to the Gorham and Standish Food Pantries, who serve hundreds of local families in need. “Each year we are touched by the generosity of our credit union members,” says Marketing & Sales Director, Kelsey Gillespie. “Whether it’s buying a treat during a branch bake sale or participating in our Annual Motorcycle Ride, our community always steps up in a big way. We are very lucky to work with so many community members who embody the credit union philosophy of ‘people helping people.’” In addition to fundraising, Casco FCU also collects non-perishable items for the food pantries year-round. Donations can be dropped off at one of their two locations in Gorham at 375 Main Street or 393 Ossipee Trail.
