The Elks Lodge #371 held a Flag Day Celebration on Sunday, June 16. Exalted Ruler of the Lewiston Elks Club Michael Aube served as master of ceremonies. Several music videos were presented along with a flag folding ceremony presented by the Daughters of the American Revolution.


Andrea Quaid, field representative for Representative Michael Michaud, read a letter from Senator Susan Collins and Reps. Chellie Pingree and Michaud. A new American flag previously flown over the United States Capitol was presented to the Lewiston Lodge #371 by Senator Collins. Commander Willie Danforth and Robert Levesque of Franco American War Veterans Post 31 raised the new flag. Past Lewiston Mayor Larry Gilbert represented Lewiston citizens and Auburn City Councilor Leroy Walker represented Auburn citizens.
Several flags were carried by representatives of local veterans groups, including Commander Paul Bernard of William J. Rogers Post 153; Dan Bussiere of Legion Baseball Post 153; Normand Bussiere of the Franco American War Veterans; and Maurice Marquis of the Marine Corps League.
