3rd Art Walk to showcase more local artists than ever
A grassroots group of community members, artists and businesses is spotlighting the downtowns of Lewiston-Auburn once more, this time with more art and more performances.
On Friday, July 29 “Art Walk Lewiston Auburn” will transform the downtown areas of Lewiston and Auburn into art districts for the evening.
The first two Art Walk Lewiston Auburn events of the summer have drawn in over 600 people to the downtown area to appreciate art, culture and community. For it’s third event this season, the Art Walk will be featuring all new artwork from over 30 artists and will include more performance art elements.
Performance art will include live music from Three Point Trio in Androscoggin Bank Park, as well as other live performances at the Lewiston Public Library and at L/A Arts.
“Art Walk Lewiston Auburn has taught us that the people of Lewiston-Auburn have a real desire to be brought together to appreciate art, culture and the vibrancy of this unique community,” says Shannon Coffin, one of the event’s organizers. “July’s event promises to be the best yet, with more artists being showcased then ever before and multiple live performance art pieces happening throughout the night.”
The event, taking place from 5 to 8:30 p.m. (with some venues staying open later), will lead participants on an exploration of the downtown areas through self-guided tours of the local arts venues. In addition to stops like the law offices of Murphy & Coyne and Captive Elements Art House, the hosts will be transforming J. Dostie Jewelers, the old Lamey Wellehan shoe store and even unused window spaces into art exhibits for the evening.

“Art Walk Lewiston Auburn is an opportunity for all of us to support local artists, local business, and to continue nurturing this fantastic downtown area and inspiring others to keep it thriving,” says Grayling Cunningham, local artist and hair stylist at Orbit Salon. “It’s so rewarding to see all these people enjoying, experiencing and feeling not only the art on the walls and in the windows, but also the art of inspiring members of the community to join together and celebrate the beauty of art and support our local artists.”
