Class of ’55 plans 60th

The St. Dominic High School Class of 1955 is planning its 60th reunion, set to take place at Rolandeau’s Restaurant on September 12. A social hour will begin at 11 a.m. and the meal will be served at noon.
Chamber to host blood drive
The Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, will conduct a blood drive on Monday, August 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Chamber’s office at 415 Lisbon Street in Lewiston. The goal for the drive is to collect 30 units of blood, each of which can save three lives. To reach this goal, the drive will need 50 donors.
Paint Night will benefit Hospice House
The Dream Team, a fundraising group for Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice’s annual Hospice House 5K & Remembrance Walk, will present a Paint Night on Thursday, August 20 at the American Legion building at 426 Washington Street in Auburn.

Guay named head of Healthy Androscoggin
Erin E. Guay, MPH
The Advisory Board of Healthy Androscoggin has announced that Erin E. Guay, MPH, has been hired as the agency’s Executive Director. Guay has a long history with Healthy Androscoggin. She has been a Cultural and Linguistic Competency Manager for the agency since November 2014 and previously served for seven years as a Health Promotion Manager. In addition, she has served the organization as Interim Director on two separate occasions. She has extensive grant-writing experience and has been a visible presence in the state’s public health community.
Auburn Rec. plans “Movies in the Park”
The Auburn Recreation Department will present “Movies in the Park,” a series of three family-fun films to be shown at various outdoor locations around the city through September. The movies will be free and open to the public and will begin at dusk (approximately 8:30 p.m.).
Lewiston plans National Night Out event
The City of Lewiston’s annual “National Night Out,” supported and funded by the Lewiston Police Athletic League, will take place on Tuesday, August 4, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Marcotte Park. The purpose of this free “meet your neighbor” event is to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send the message that neighborhoods are united.
Auburn hosts meeting on neighborhood plans
The City of Auburn is developing an updated downtown and neighborhood revitalization strategy for the areas that include the Downtown, New Auburn and the Union Street/PAL Center areas. Much of the strategy will be drawn from work that has already been completed and adopted by the City Council, but resident feedback on priorities, areas of interest and even new ideas are being sought. To do this, the City will host a community meeting, facilitated by a consultant from Planning Decisions, on Wednesday, August 5 at 6 p.m. at Auburn Hall.
