Veayo Twins to perform at August Art Walk
The featured entertainment for the next Art Walk Lewiston-Auburn on Friday, August 31 will be a free concert by the Veayo Twins. Their performance will take place at 6 p.m. at Dufresne Plaza, across from the District Court Building on Lisbon Street in Lewiston.
The Veayo Twins are identical twin sisters Katherine and Kristen Veayo. Known for their sweet vocal harmonies, they play catchy, original songs that revolve around relationships, life experiences, and overcoming obstacles.
At the tender age of 16, they have already been performing live for over three years, opening for Grammy Award-winning country rock band Emerson Drive and playing at the Jonas Brothers’ softball challenge, Patriots Place at Gillette Stadium, Hard Rock Cafés in Boston and the Bahamas, NYC’s historic Webster Hall, and on local CBS, ABC and Fox TV shows.
Most recently, their music has been featured in a documentary film called “Bullied to Silence” that just premiered at the Boston International Film Festival, and they won the 2012 “MAMM-SLAM,” the Maine Academy of Modern Music’s prestigious competition for high school bands.
Kristen is a guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter with a rare ability to compose both music and lyrics at the same time. She thinks that being a teen helps her connect lyrics to the listener. She enjoys drawing, acting, writing poetry, and skateboarding at local parks. She also has a special connection with animals, which she seems to attract naturally.
Katherine is a keyboardist, vocalist and drummer. Having studied percussion with an orchestra for three seasons at New England Music Camp, she is the duo’s “time keeper.” A natural performer with an old-school ear for music, she loves playing live. She also enjoys drawing, writing poetry, modeling, acting and video production and is much in demand among her friends as an outstanding hair stylist!
The concert will take place rain or shine; the rain location is Lewiston Public Library’s Callahan Hall. In addition to the concert, Art Walk L/A features exhibits of work by local and regional artists from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at numerous venues along Lisbon Street between Captive Elements Art House and J. Dostie Jewelers. For more information, call 782-7228 or see www.laarts.org.
