LYAC asks Geiger students: “Do You Do Lew?”
Members of the Lewiston Youth Advisory Council recently made presentations to third and fifth grade classes at Geiger Elementary school to encourage the students to join them as cheerleaders for Lewiston and to ask them – as the future citizens and leaders of the city – to think about what they value in their community.
Under the theme “Do You Do Lew?”, LYAC members led the students in various Lewiston-based activities, including “Mad-libs,” drawings and a Jeopardy game. Energy in both classrooms ran high as third graders shared their favorite things about the community and fifth graders tested their knowledge about the city.
At the close of the presentations, LYAC members handed out “I Love Lewiston” stickers in the classrooms and to other students as they left the building. The Lewiston Youth Advisory Council is funded by the Lewiston Firefighters Association. For more information, see www.lewistonmaine.gov/lyac.
