WESTBROOK, ME (January 6, 2023) — The Chinese and American Friendship Association of Maine (CAFAM) will ring in the Year of the Rabbit, Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the Westbrook Performing Arts Center, 471 Stroudwater Street, Westbrook, ME. This always popular and exciting event is in its 32nd year and is the oldest and largest Lunar New Year celebration in Maine.

Performance by a professional arts group, Boston Chinese Folk Art Workshop, (CFAW Boston) called The Legend Reborn, which will include traditional Chinese music, drumming, and dance, as well as a lion dance and dragon dance, and diabolo (Chinese yoyo) performance. This performance begins at 1:00 p.m. First come, first served seating.

There will also be Lion Dancers performing all day.

There will be a Chinese Cultural Village: Open from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with crafts for kids, vendors, and more. The village will also be open during performance intermission.

Chinese food from the Panda Garden Restaurant will be available beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Admission prices: Adults $15, Children 12 to 5 $5 Children under 5 Free. There are discounts for CAFAM members and students. Tickets are available in advance from Eventbrite.com. Day of event tickets: Only cash or check. No credit or debit cards! .

CAFAM is watching the pandemic status carefully and we will be adhering to the guidelines of Westbrook Performing Arts Center) and any required changes in the event plans as the winter unfolds. Currently, Masks and Vaccination for all Recommended for 12 and older (adhering to Vaccination for 5-11-year-olds also recommended.)
