Art Walk LA converts downtown businesses and storefronts into public arts spaces that include galleries, exhibitions, and special performances.

Spring is here, and this year’s first Art Walk Lewiston Auburn is just around the corner. Art Walk LA converts downtown businesses and storefronts into public arts spaces that include galleries, exhibitions, and special performances. The event takes place from 5 to 8 p.m. on the final Friday of each month from May to September.

To add to the fun of connecting with friends and viewing great local art, Art Walk LA also includes live music. Here’s the lineup for the 2016 kickoff event on May 27:

Chicks with Sticks. 5:30 p.m., Dufresne Plaza, Lewiston. This steel drumming group brings the sound of the tropics, with a repertoire that includes Jimmy Buffett, Bob Marley, and a selection of calypso favorites and popular tunes for easy listening and dancing in the streets.

The Juke Joint Devils. 8 p.m., She Doesn’t Like Guthries, Lewiston. This band plays an energetic, swinging blues that isn’t heard much these days. It’s a foot-stomping, hip-shaking genre that harkens back to that swampy, rocky sound people once heard in noisy bars.

Michael Krapovicky. 6 to 9 p.m., Festival Plaza, Auburn. Professionally performing in New England since 1999, Krapovicky is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with a love for harmony and concise, heartfelt lyrics. A member of the Grumps and Eds Meds, he also performs solo acoustic, promoting his recorded music, most notably “Songs I Lied About,” “Lowlife,” and RPM Challenge songs from 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2016.

In addition to the event’s over 20 venues in Lewiston, local arts nonprofit LA Arts will partner in 2016 with over 10 participating business spaces in downtown Auburn.

Auburn venues for 2016 include 84 Court Restaurant, Auburn City Hall, Auburn Public Library, Café LA, Designs by Skip, Gritty McDuff’s, Kate Lavin Photography, Maine Gourmet Chocolates, Roger’s Haircutters, and Top It Frozen Yogurt.

Lewiston venues for 2016 include Avant-Garde Maine Paintbar, Bear Bones Beer, Chill Yoga, Downtown Handmade Vintage & The Hive, Dube’s Flower Shop, Forage Market, Fuel Lewiston, Gil Poliquin Hearing & Optical, Hardy Wolf & Downing, Heritage Collectibles, J Dostie Jewelers, Kimball Street Studios, LA Arts, Lamey Wellehan, Lewiston Public Library, Paul’s Clothing & Shoe Store, She Doesn’t Like Guthries, The Studio, The Vault, and Wicked Illustrations
