Philippe presents “Forever Frank” at Franco Center
The classic music of Frank Sinatra will be featured in a show presented by Louis Philippe and a few of his young protégés on Saturday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Franco-American Heritage Center in Lewiston.
Louis Philippe performs a couple of times a year at the Franco Center, where he is beloved by the local Franco population. His late grandfather, Louis Philippe Gagne, hailed from Lewiston and was posthumously nominated to the Franco-American Hall of Fame, to which he will be inducted in a ceremony at the Statehouse in Augusta on May 14.
Philippe has long been a fan of Sinatra’s music. The idea of a performing a full program of that music came from the smattering of Sinatra songs he routinely includes in his normal Franco Center sets.
“I finally got a chance to produce the show as a fundraising dinner-theater presentation last summer,” said Philippe. “We brought the show to several venues in the Portland area and people loved it. They ate, they sang, they danced and had a ball. It’s definitely a nostalgic throw-back to simpler and happier days.”
The show, called “Forever Frank,” is already doing brisk business at the Franco Center Box Office. The event will take place downstairs in the Center’s Heritage Hall. The ticket price of $18 will include hors d’oeuvres. Tickets can be purchased by phone at 689-2000, at the box office between noon and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, or online at www.francocenter.org.
