Experience a late winter ritual done the old-fashioned way when Norlands, Maine’s oldest living history farm and museum, celebrates Maine Maple Sunday on March 22.

The event will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., when fresh, hot pancakes and sausage will be served with Norlands’ own maple syrup in the historic farmer’s cottage. Visitors may help tap trees and collect sap, watch sap-boiling demonstrations in the sugarhouse, and meet the schoolmarm in the one-room schoolhouse. Bring snowshoes or sleds to enjoy the beautiful 445-acre grounds of this National Historic Site. Norlands’ own maple syrup and other maple treats will be available for purchase.

The price for pancakes and sausage will be $5-$7; otherwise, the event is free. Reservations are not required. Washburn-Norlands Living History Center is located at 290 Norlands Road in Livermore. For more information, call 897-4366, email norlands@norlands.org or visit www.norlands.org.
