“For the Love of Art” show set for Feb. 13
Make the viewing of artworks interpreting and celebrating four categories of love part of your Valentine’s Day weekend by attending the “For the Love of Art” show, presented by the Lewiston-Auburn chapter of the Union of Maine Visual Artists, on Saturday, February 13, from 4 to 7 p.m.
Free and open to the public, the event will take place at four venues (listed below) that are within walking distance of some of the nicest restaurants in downtown Lewiston and Auburn. Each venue will provide refreshments and will be decorated with floral arrangements by Sweet Pea Designs evoking their featured theme, Lust, Passion, Companionship or Sweetness.
The Hive at Warehouse 550, 550 Lisbon Street. Featured theme: Sweetness. Featured artists: Barbara Violette, Kate Cargile, Sheri Hollenbeck, Bonita Boothby, Quiet City, DH&V, Moon Dance Jewelry, No Frills, Jessy Kendall, Ashley Cole, Amber Grenier, Bridget McAlonan, Jennifer Gammon, and Mainely Craft Coasters. Refreshments: a photo booth, sweets from the Frisky Wisk, and chair massages by Donnie Foster.
Wicked Illustrations Studio and Gallery, 140 Canal Street (park in their lot). Featured theme: Companionship. Featured artists: Jessy Kendall, Tracey Miller, Richard Dahlquist, Melanie Therrien, Joycelyn Perry, Julie Breau, Kellie Chasse, Susan Bennett, Jennifer Gammon. Refreshments: chocolates from Petite Bites, chair massages by Pelletier’s Healing Hands.
The Studio, 291 Lisbon Street. Featured theme: Lust. Featured artists: Rachel Jalbert, Kristi Becktouchette, Jenniefer Gammon, Kerry Landry, Grayling Cunningham, Bill Eldridge, Jessy Kendall, Lis Janes, Bridget McAlonan, and Alexandra Hood. This venue will feature touchable and edible art.
L/A Arts, 221 Lisbon Street. Featured theme: Passion. Featured artists: Jessy Kendall, Abby Drew, Alexandra Hood, Cindy Harnden, Bridget McAlonan, Lis Janes, Jennifer Gammon, Kate Cargile. Refreshments: chocolates from Ella’s Chocolates.
The artworks on display will be available for public viewing through the month of February. Check with each venue for open hours outside of the February 13 show time.
