CUMBERLAND, ME (July 20, 2023) — The Homeless Animal Rescue Team (HART) of Maine, an adoption center & shelter for cats in Cumberland, is pleased to announce their huge annual Yard Sale is back at the Cumberland Fairgrounds, Thursday, August 10 through Sunday, August 13, 2023. Admission is free. All proceeds from items sold at HART’s flagship fundraising event will go directly to providing essential care for the hundreds of cats they take in every year. The money raised will help pay for food, litter, general medical care, and the costs associated with the more complex medical needs that some surrendered cats require to survive, thrive, and be ready for adoption.

Joann Wallace, HART Board Member, long-time volunteer, and organizer of HART’s Yard Sale, noted, “It’s been amazing to see the excitement and enthusiasm for this event grow every year. Last year we generated just over $52,000 for HART. This year, we are hoping to exceed that amount, with a goal of $60,000. And I know we can do it, based on the generous support of our community and our many dedicated volunteers, who make it all happen.”

SIP & SHOP PREVIEW

On Wednesday evening, August 9, 2023, from 4:30 p.m. – 7:15 p.m., HART will open the Yard Sale doors early for a Sip & Shop Preview event. A $28 presale admission fee ($30 at the door) will allow shoppers exclusive early access to the Yard Sale and a complimentary beverage and snacks. This is always a fun evening, complete with a DJ, a gourmet pie sale, exciting raffles, and great conversation with treasure seekers and fellow cat lovers alike. DONATIONS AND VOLUNTEERS STILL WELCOME

HART is accepting donations of items to sell at the Yard Sale through Noon on Sunday, August 6, at their shelter at 302 Range Road in Cumberland. Then, HART will continue to accept items (especially furniture) at the Cumberland Fairgrounds Exhibition Building, Monday, August 7 through Wednesday, August 9, 8 a.m.– 6 p.m. and Thursday, August 10, 8 a.m.–12 Noon.

They are looking for previously loved yet delicately used furniture, home decor, kitchen gadgets, small appliances, clothing, toys, tools, garden equipment, holiday decorations, collectibles, books, and more.
